| The role of the position | |||||||||
| The Director, Schools Review is responsible for leading, managing and conducting targeted reviews of school performance, management and operations. The position is also responsible for the identification of systemic and school specific structural, organisational, relationship and process change and exemplary practice to achieve effective school operations and high quality educational outcomes. | |||||||||
| Key duties of the position | |||||||||
| The occupant of the position will be required to demonstrate high level achievement in relation to the following outcomes.
1. School review frameworks and processes for targeted evaluation of school performance and effectiveness are established, maintained and reviewed. 2. A schedule for the conduct of the agreed review types in selected schools is developed and successfully completed on an annual basis. 3. Specialist and multi-skilled review teams are assembled, directed and managed to undertake the required reviews of selected schools. 4. Reviews of school performance and effectiveness are undertaken with causal factors for the determined levels of performance identified. 5. Effective leadership and management of the development of rigorous action plans incorporating decisive strategies and actions to achieve immediate and long term sustainable positive change, is provided. 6. Detailed reports and action plans for reviews of schools of concern are provided to the Director General for endorsement within two weeks of undertaking the review. 7. Summary reports, including an overview of actions to be taken (where applicable) are publicly provided on a managed web-site within four weeks of undertaking the review. 8. An annual report on the operations and findings of the Expert Review Group is provided to the Director General prior to the commencement of the following school year. 9. Advice is provided to the Director General on school performance and effectiveness matters including best practice, resourcing and support. | |||||||||

For vacancies in excess of 6 months, the Recruitment, Selection and Appointment Standard is applied. The Department of Education and Training reserves the right to withdraw or amend the term of appointment to any expression of interest to meet business needs, with any appointment subject to a two week termination provision.
