Group Definitions

Section	Definition
DET (State)	The group of students from public schools.
District	The group of students from a district e.g. West Coast or Kimberley.
SEI Band	Schools are assigned a Band based on the Socio Economic Index e.g. Primary schools are categorised into have 9 bands and Secondary are categorised into 4 bands.
School	This is the results for the students in the selected reporting period. E.g. Year 8 2008.
Form Class	The method schools use to identify a group of students e.g. 12.5 or Room 3.
Cohort (Reporting)	The group of students that were represented in a reporting period in the selected year e.g. 2007 Semester 1.
Cohort (Timetabling)	The group of students within the selected timetabling period. Typically used in secondary e.g. 2007 Year 9 or 2006 Upper School.
Group (Teaching Set)	The group of students contained within the selected timetabling teaching set (class). This enables you to view previous performance of your current class. e.g. E409_1 or 09wood.
Group (Reporting Group)	A group of students formed to enabling reporting of specific outcomes or marks. You are only able to view this data once the reporting template and results have been entered. e.g. Room 3 Year 2 or 2BENG_2.
Group (SIS Defined Group)	A group created at a school level e.g. SAER, PEAC, GATE, etc.
Cohort (Current)	The group of students in that current year. This enables you to view previous performance of your current cohort. Typically used in 1-10 e.g. 2006 results (year 3) for the current 2008 (Year 5).

Section	Definition
Constant	This option will display results for students who were at the school for the selected senior secondary reporting period and the selected lower secondary reporting period.
Senior Secondary	This option will display results for students who were at the school for the selected senior secondary reporting period, but may have been elsewhere for the selected lower secondary reporting period.
Lower Secondary	This option will display results for students who were at the school for the selected lower secondary reporting period, but may have been elsewhere for the selected senior secondary reporting period.
