NAPLAN Grouping The NAPLAN grouping is calculated from Year 9 NAPLAN achievements and is used to determine the metric group threshold applicable to a student. There are two methods for calculating the NAPLAN Grouping. Prior to 2023, Year 9 NAPLAN scores were reported as Bands With the change to NAPLAN results from bands to proficiency levels from 2023 the calculation method will change from the NAPLAN Highest Band method using NAPLAN bands to NAPLAN Proficiency Category method using the NAPLAN proficiency levels.
