Achievement standard requirement The achievement standard calculates a grade average based on completed units or a prediction including those not yet completed. The table will differ slightly depending on the graduating calendar year of the selected students. 2010 and 2011 requirements • Achieve a C grade average or better across 10 course units • These 10 units must include: the last two-unit combination completed in three different courses one unit from each of two other different courses other units with the highest achievement to make up the balance of the 10 units. • Endorsed programs and/or VET credit transfer can reduce the number of course units and courses required by up to 40 per cent. See Section 6 for details. The rules used to calculate these values are: Endorsed Program/VET equivalent include The sum of the completed equivalences for Endorsed programs and VET and P Stage. Course grade average across 6 course units The best of the last 3 two-unit combinations across 3 different courses. The grade average is determined by converting grade to a score, averaging and translating to a grade Progress score or the completed half of a pair will be used to predict and calculate the in progress average. Course grade average across 8 course units The best of the last 3 two-unit combinations across 3 different courses and the best single unit in two other courses. Course grade average across 10 course units The best of the last 3 two-unit combinations across 3 different courses and the best single unit in two other courses and the best two additional units with the highest achievement. Achievement standard achieved If Endorsed Program/VET/P Stage equivalent included total of completed and in progress is o < 8 use result from Grade average across 10 course units o >= 8 and < 10 use the result from Grade average across 8 course units o >= 10 use the result from Grade average across 6 course units o Green and “Achieved” if all requirements are green o Amber and “In progress” if all components are green or amber with at least one amber o Pink and “Of Concern” if all components are green or amber with at least one amber and there are two or more marks less than 50%. o Red and “At risk” if any component is red. 2012 and beyond requirements • Achieve a C grade average or better across the best 16 course units of which at least 8 must be completed in Year 12 • Endorsed programs and/or VET credit transfer can reduce the number of course units and courses required by up to 6 units. The rules used to calculate these values are: Endorsed Program/VET equivalent include The sum of the completed equivalences for Endorsed programs and VET and P Stage Course grade average across x course units The number of units used in the grade calculation will depend on the reduction due to Endorsed, VET and P Stage units. The number will vary between 10 and 16 units. Achievement standard achieved If Endorsed Program/VET/P Stage equivalent included total of completed and in progress is: o < 3 use the result from Grade average across 16 course units with 8 in year 12 o 4 use the result from Grade average across 14 course units with 6 in year 12 o 5 use the result from Grade average across 12 course units with 6 in year 12 o 6 to 9 use the result from Grade average across 10 course units with 6 in year 12 o 10 or more use the result from Grade average across 10 course units with 4 in year 12 o Green and “Achieved” if all requirements are green o Amber and “In progress” if all components are green or amber with at least one amber. o Pink and “Of Concern” if all components are green or amber with at least one amber and there are two or more marks less than 50%. o Red and “At risk” if any component is red.
