Analysing Achievement Data
Analysing Achievement Data
This section describes how you can perform some detailed analysis of achievement data.
This feature uses a third-party analysis tool called Mondrian which enables you to interactively analyse very large query results from the SAIS data. A description of the Mondrian toolbar buttons is provided below.
The Mondrian Toolbar
Opens the OLAP Navigator. Clicking this button displays a query configuration panel above your query results. You can use this panel to configure the query and update the results.
Shows the MDX Editor. This button displays the MDX (multi-dimensional expressions) Query Editor window above your query results. This window displays the query code for the current query results.
Configure the OLAP Table. This button displays a Sort Options panel above your query results. You can use this to configure how the data is sorted.
Show Parent Members. This button adds extra columns to display the parent members of any child data records.
Hide Spans. This button hides any column spans.
Show Properties. This button displays columns showing the predefined 'properties' of the data records. These will typically be data like District and School IDs.
Suppress Empty Rows/Columns. This button hides any rows or columns that have no data to display.
Swap Axes. This button swaps the display of the data so that records currently shown in columns (y axis) are now displayed in rows (x axis), and vice-versa.
Drill Member. This button enables you to drill down (by clicking the red plus sign next to a value) into the data, by member type.
Drill Position. This button enables you to drill down (by clicking the blue plus sign next to a value) into the data, by position.
Drill Replace. This button enables you to drill down (by clicking the red arrow next to a value) and replace the parent data set with the selected data.
Drill Through. This button enables you to drill through (by clicking the green arrow next to a value) the data and display, in a panel below the query results, the actual database records that the query results are based on.
Configure Print Settings. This button displays a print properties panel above your query results. You can use this panel to configure the print settings (paper size, orientation, etc.) for the session.
Print Page to PDF. Click this button to generate an Adobe PDF version of the query results. You can open the PDF or save it to your computer.
